KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Iran have decided to establish a joint committee to sort out the problems of Afghan refugees.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the fourth meeting of the consular affairs commission between the neighbours took place last week in Iran.
In a statement, the ministry said the Afghan delegation discussed the problems being faced by Afghan refugees with the Iranian side.
The two sides conferred on people smuggling, Afghans, students’ issues, transfer of prisoners and increasing the number of Afghan diplomats to provide better consular services to refugees.
According to the statement, both sides decided to set up a joint committee to resolve the problems and ensure enhanced coordination.
On the sideline of the meeting, Consular Affairs Director Shoaib Sarwar also discussed the need for greater cooperation between the two countries with Iran’s Deputy Minister Ali Reza Begdali.
