1-km road being constructed in Mazar-i-Sharif

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Construction work on a kilometre-long road, costing 8.5 million afghanis, has been launched in Mazar-i-Sharif, capital of Balkh province, an official said on Monday.

Mayor Mohammad Kazem Tariq said the road cost would be paid from development budget of the municipality and the project would take three months to complete.

He added the road, 980 metres long and 10 metres wide, would account for more than 8.5 million afghanis.

Meanwhile, residents are happy with the construction of the road. Mohammad Jafar, hailing from ​​Mazar-i-Sharif city, said problems of the people would be solved with construction of this road.

He added residents of the area were facing problems due to dilapidated condition of the road.

Municipality officials say they also plan to implement 20 more development projects in the city.
