4 killed, as many wounded in Nangarhar incidents

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Four people have been killed and as many wounded in separate incidents in eastern Nangarhar province, police said on Sunday.

Police spokesman Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News three people were wounded when an old mortar shell exploded inside the house of a teacher in Najo village of Koz Kunar district.

He said a daughter and wife of the teacher were wounded in the blast.

A resident of the area told Pajhwok on the condition of anonymity the blast took place when Sibghatullah, who teacher at Tawaka Baba high school, was splitting wood in his house with an axe and hit the mortar shell that went off.

Separately, a man named Gujar shot dead his daughter in law and injured another person over illicit relationship on phone in Kot district of the province.

Zabuli said the woman was killed and her alleged lover injured in the incident.

He added security forces reached the scene, but the killer had managed to escape. A manhunt was underway to arrest him.

Separately, a person named Zahirullah committed suicide in Jabarkhan Qala area of Hesarak district of the province.

Meanwhile, two persons died on the spot when their motorcycles collided in 5th police district of Jalalabad city.

The police official blamed the fatal accident on reckless driving.
