HERATCITY (Pajhwok): Chinese 360 tonnnes of humanitarian aid for Herat earthquake victims has arrived by train at Torghondai Port in Western Herat province, an official said on Sunday.
Mawlavi Ahmadullah Muttaqi, head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the 360 tonnes of humanitarian aid was handed over to the officials of the Ministry of Finance at Torghondai Port.
Mawlavi Muttawi hailed Chinese assistance and said the aid could not completely address the problems faced by earthquake victims but still could help to address their problems to some extent.
Chinese assistance included tents, winter garments, beds, primary aid kites and other things which would be distributed to the earthquake victims in the province.
Mawlavi Mohammad Musa Ashari, head of the Natural Disasters Management Department, said the aid would be distributed to affected people based on a survey in coordination with the Coordination commission.
Chinese assistance for Herat earthquake victims comes at a time when earlier Iran, UAE, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other countries had sent humanitarian aid.
