PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Some residents of northern Baghlan province complain obtaining Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) takes several months.
Gul Alam, a resident of Pul-i-Khumri, told Pajhwok Afghan News he applied for an e-ID card six months ago, but was yet to receive it.
He added: “I have visited twice the e-ID cards distribution centre so far, but failed to get the chance for biometric verification.”
Abdul Wakil, another resident of the provincial capital, also told Pajhwok e-ID cards were not easy obtained.
He said: “e-ID card is an important document. I have a problem with my SIM card, I visited the relevant network office several times with my paper ID card, but the problem is yet to be resolved.”
Some others residents made similar views and demanded a solution to the problem.
Attaullah Nasiri, deputy director of Baghlan Statistics Department, also acknowledged the slow-paced distribution of CNICs during the last six months, but said now the process had returned to normal.
He said currently they had received about 28,000 printed CNIC cards that will be distributed in the next few days.
Earlier, residents of other provinces had also complained about delayed distribution of e-ID cards.
