Work on projects worth over 14m afs launched in Kunar

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Work on some development projects worth 14.4 million afghani has been launched in Asadabad, the capital of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Maulvi Nazar Mohammad Atiq, mayor of Asadabad, told the projects’ inaugural ceremony that the schemes included construction of a 500-meter long road in first and fourth police districts, construction of a cattle market in the second police district, expansion of a square and some others.

He said the schemes would consume 14.4 million afghanis to be paid from the budget of the municipality. He added the projects would facilitate citizens and provide work to many.

“The municipality is trying to carry out more such projects in other areas and districts of the province”, Atiq said.

Malang Saleem, a tribal elder of the first police district, expressed his happiness over the launch of the projects, but said there was no drainage system and rain water spoiled the beauty of the city. He asked the municipality to resolve the problem.
