HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a 550-meter long road estimated to cost 7.5 million afghanis has been launched in Herat city, the capital of western Herat province, an official said on Wednesday.
Mullah Abdul Raziq Rashid, Herat city mayor, told the road’s inaugural ceremony the 550-meter long and 20-meter wide road was being constructed in the 15th police district of the provincial capital.
He said the cost of the project would be paid from the municipality’s development budget and would take three months to complete.
He asked the people of Herat to cooperate with the municipality in timely collection of revenue that was used transparently for reconstruction, development of the city.
Residents of the area expressed their happiness over the launch of work on the road that would solve many problems.
Also this ongoing week, construction work on two more roads was also started by the municipality in the 5th and the 8th police districts. The roads would consume 15 million afghanis.
