BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on six check dams has been initiated at a cost of more than 14 million afghanis in central Bamyan province, an official said on Sunday.
Mullah Gullabuddin Rabdost, director of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, told Pajhwok Afghan News the check dams were being constructed in Yakawalang No.1, Sheibar, Waras, Yakawalang No.2, Kah Mard and Saighan districts.
He said the cost of the projects would be paid by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL). The dams will take three months to complete.
With completion of these projects the underground water level would rise, he said, adding hundreds of people had been provided with employment opportunities on the projects.
