KABUL (Pajhwok): Tens of foreign fighters, including Pakistani and Tajik nationals, killed and arrested during terrorist attacks in Afghanistan in the past two years, an official said on Sunday.

Acting Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoub Mujahid said the UN Security Council has been misled through false information on the presence of Daesh group in Afghanistan by some selfish internal and external forces.

He added: “Regarding nefarious designs I can only say that their presence is in the social media, these people should get full advantage of the general amnesty and should not become proxies of other countries.”

Mullah Mohammad Yaqoub Mujahid told reports in Kabul that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) was committed to its pledged made in the Doha Agreement that its soil will not be used against any other country.

He said: “We will never allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s soil against others, nor will we allow anyone to get advantage of the problems and difficulties faced by Afghans, We have no intention of revenge against anyone and we do not accept revenge from anyone.”

He warned efforts were underway by some selfish forces inside and outside the country to create tensions for Afghanistan.

These forces, he said, generated false information and disseminated them through different channels to create tensions among regional countries and international community about Afghanistan.

The acting defence minister said: “Generating false information has now become a business of these selfish groups, they want to gain political and material privileges and peruse their evil goals through this way, these groups are well experienced in generating false information, we know this chain of production of false information very well, Unfortunately, the United Nations, especially the Security Council, has been exposed to the production of these false reports, so the countries of the region and the world should not believe such false reports about the security situation in Afghanistan. Our ways of understanding are open to everyone. They can satisfy themselves about any concern.”

He said there was completed security and peace nationwide and terrorist activities had declined by 90pc this year comparing to the past year.

Mullah Yaqoub said: “Exaggerated assessments, statistics and figures about the existence and activities of Daesh in Afghanistan are all based on the false information I mentioned earlier; In fact, this project has no roots or results in Afghanistan, the developers and financiers of this project should understand this fact.”

He said after the takeover of the IEA Afghanistan mosques, Khan Aqas, religious leaders, common people and gatherings had been attacked.

In these attacks foreigners were involved specially nationals from Tajikistan.

“Tens of Tajikistan nationals have been killed by our security forces and tens of others were arrested, in the second category Pakistani nationals are involved in terrorist attacks, more than 20 Pakistani nationals have been killed in our forces attacks and tens arrested.”

He asked countries from where terrorist enter Afghanistan to control their boundaries and not allow terrorists to enter Afghanistan from their soil.

“About rebels, I have to say that their presence is only in the social media and they have no foothold in Afghanistan, they cannot deceive Afghans again, they should take advantage of the great opportunity of general amnesty and not allow other countries to use them as proxies and mercenary fighters.

Kidnappers and Robbers

The acting defence minister said that all those networks had been dismantled which created during the past government by powerful individuals to abduct national businessmen and loot their properties.

He said hundreds of kidnappers have been killed by security forces during operations and over 200 Afghans had been released from their captivities after the takeover of the IEA.

In the past 12 months he said hundreds of kidnappers arrested, over 25 were killed during security forces raids and around 50 kidnapped individuals had been rescued.

Mullah Yaqoub said the bonds of robbers created during the past government by powerful individuals against their rivals had been dismantled in the past 12 months as well.

He said during the period security forces arrested hundreds of armed and unarmed robbers and some were killed during operations.

Arms trafficking

Mullah Mohammad Yaqoub Mujahid said the IEA stopped arms trafficking inside and outside the country, a number of traffickers had been arrested and a large number of arms collected from unauthorized persons.

He said a special procedure had been introduced for processing arm and made it clear that nobody could possesses arms randomly.

He said: “Regarding the weapons, ammunition and military equipment left over from the previous administration in Afghanistan, I would like to say that they are all safe, in responsible hands, and many measures have been taken to protect them, some sources that claim that some groups have received weapons, these claims are completely untrue and just propaganda.”

Drugs

The acting defence minister said that the IEA leadership decree regarding the prevention of drugs had been implemented by security forces in a decent manner.

He said 8,282 people had been arrested in connection to drugs, 834 drugs factories, 4472 tonnes of drugs, 57 alcohol factories, 22 drugs tablets factories and 951,816 tablets had been destroyed.

He added until now 95,205 drug addicts had been rounded up and provided rehabilitation treatment.

Mujahid said countries and international organisations have enough budget for poppy replacement purpose but so far they provided no support to Afghanistan.

He said the behavior of security forces was professional and their actions against the prevention of crimes were in line with the rules and principles of Islamic Sharia Law.

He said: “In this regard, I would like to clarify a concern that some selfish international organizations rose in some international meetings, we do not have any illegal arrests and there are no illegal prisons, according to the IEA decree of the supreme leader’s decree, torture of suspects and keeping them in custody beyond the specified period without a court order are absolutely prohibited.”

Mujahid said some individuals cleverly placed themselves in the IEA ranks who caused mistrust between the IEA and people.

The defence ministry Commission in 12 months worked hard some of these people who are still in the IEA ranks would be also filtered and expelled and nobody will be allowed to harm and torture common people.
