KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has signed agreements with nine non-governmental organizations worth 1.2 billion afghanis to support orphans.

Addressing the agreements signing ceremony, Hafiz Azizul Rahman, acting head of Foreign Relations Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, said under the agreements, 6,000 orphans would be assisted and supported and 1,700 people provided vocational training and education in eight provinces.

He named the provinces as Kandahar, Panjsher, Kunar, Khost, Logar, Paktika, Bamyan and Kabul and the total value of the agreements was 1.2 billion afghanis signed with nine local NGOs

Financial and administrative assistant at the ministry, Maulvi Din Mohammad Haqbeen, called on the organizations to share their reports with the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry from time to time.

He emphasized that the NGOs should conduct their activities in line with the principles of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

He called on the United Nations and international aid organizations to provide humanitarian and other aid to Afghans.

Haqbeen assured the Islamic Emirate would support the NGOs and asked them to share any problem they faced in their work with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Speaking on behalf of the organizations, Sarwak Omarzai said that their goal was to provide services to the people and they could achieve that goal in cooperation with the government.

He said they would share their performance reports with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Earlier, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs signed 22 agreements worth 1. 79 billion afghanis with 15 national and international organizations
