KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) says more than 12 million electronic identity cards have been issued since the start of the process across the country.
In a statement, NSIA said out of 12,288,190 applicants, 7.108 million cards were issued to men and 5.180 million to women nationwide.
It said about 6.200 million ID cards have been distributed to applicants after the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
The statement said 5,567,524 cards were distributed to people in Kabul, more than 796,000 in Herat, 645,635 in Nangarhar, 508,000 in Balkh and nearly 343,000 in Kandahar.
According to the statement, 75 ID cards issuance branches are functioning across the country in addition to mobile centers, providing services to male and female applicants every day.
NSIA is trying to activate ID card distribution branches in districts to provide more facilities to the people.
