20 Helmand clinics to go green; water project completed in Farah

FARAH CITY/ LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): One development project has been executed at a cost of 8.8 million afgahnis in western Farah province and work on another launched in southern Helmand province.

Funded by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), a water supply network was put into service in Balaboluk district of Farah province, Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department said in a statement.

It said the project consumed 8.8 million afghanis and provided about 500 families with access to potable water.

Separately, solar power systems are being installed in 20 health centres at a cost of 87,525 US dollars provided by the Health Development Organization (HDO) in Helmand province.

Rafiullah Sadat, an official of HDO, told the inaugural ceremony that the solar power systems were being installed at health centres in Greshk, Nawzad, Babaji, Washir, Garmser and Musa Qala districts.

According to him, 10 kilowatts of solar power will be provided to general health centres at district level and five and a half kilowatts to other sub-centres.
