PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A two-kilometer portion of the road between Pul-i-Khumri city and Doshi district in northern Baghlan province has been reconstructed at a cost of 72 million afghanis, an official said on Tuesday.
Baghlan Public Works Director Mullah Abbas told the road’s inaugural ceremony that the Ministry of Public Works spent 72 million afghanis on the road’s reconstruction.
Sardar Wali Kochi, head of cargo vehicles association in northern provinces, told Pajhwok Afghan News in addition to reconstruction of highways, the government should also rebuild bridges along the northern highway. He said bridges remained ruined for years in Samangan province and Doshi district.
Meanwhile, drivers were happy over the reconstruction of the road and said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) should pay attention to maintenance and reconstruction of highways.
