Khurasan team wins Bamyan basketball championship

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): A basketball tournament concluded in central Bamyan province on Saturday, with Khurasan team winning the title, officials said.

Provincial Physical Training and Olympics head Sayed Kafil Mosavi told Pajhwok Afghan News the basketball tournament commenced three days ago and eight teams participated in the event that ended today (Saturday).

According to Mosavi, the completions were launched by the Bamyan Physical Training and Olympic Department and Khurasan team won the championship and Ariana team finished runners-up.

The tournament was aimed at encouraging sports and the youth to participate in healthy activities, he said.

Teams that participated in the competitions hailed the event and asked officials to make efforts to provide facilities and hold more such competitions at the national level.

An athlete Ali Mohammad said that by holding such programs, the interest of youth in sports would increase and peace and mutual understanding among young people would strengthen.
