PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The son of a former district chief has been shot dead in Tala wa Barfak district of northern Baghlan province, police said on Wednesday.
Baghlan police chief Maulvi Sher Ahmad Burhani told Pajhwok Afghan News that Zulfaqar, son of Mohammad Ismael, was shot dead yesterday.
He said security forces upon reaching the scene arrested two suspects with a Kalashnikov and a handgun.
Burhani said the murder resulted from personal enmity and that the suspects would be referred to judicial authorities, pending a preliminary investigation.
On the condition of anonymity, a local person told Pajhwok that the victim was son of a former district chief Mohammad Ismael.
Sometime ago, unknown gunmen shot dead a senior police officer in the same district.
