KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) says the value of the afghani appreciated 42.15 percent against the US dollar this year compared to its last year’s worth.
The central bank also torched worn-out banknotes amounting to more than 7.4 billion afghanis during the past one year.
DAB first vice president Noor Mohammad in a video clip said the value of the afghani had increased by 15.42 percent against the US dollar this year compared to the previous year.
He said: “The central bank has been able to preserve the value of afghani last year and did not allow serious losses to occur in this area.”
Without providing details, he said most of new banknotes printed this year had been brought to the country and would be presented to the market according to reasonable monetary policies.
DAB torched worn-out banknotes worth 7.4 billion afghanis across the country in past one year.
