Achakzai’s residence raided by police: Ziaratwal

KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistani police have reportedly raided the residence of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

But John Achakzai, former caretaker information minister of Balochistan, rejected the allegation, saying police acted to evict the illegal occupants from a piece of in front of Achakzai’s house.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s central secretariat Sunday night, PkMAP Secretary-General Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal said a heavy police contingent stormed Achakzai’s house.

The News International quoted him as saying the raid was “executed in the absence of a magistrate. Police also arrested the PkMAP leader’s personal guard, who was in possession of a licensed weapon

He claimed the raid was carried out after the PkMAP chief exposed electoral rigging and those responsible for it in the National Assembly. Tthe party and its leadership could not be intimidated by such actions, he concluded.
