PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Six historic sites and four monuments have been discovered in central Logar province, an official said on Saturday.
Mohammad Gul Tasal, an official of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News, these historic sites and monuments discovered in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, and Mohammad Agha, Khoshi, Baraki Barak and Charkh districts.
He said these sites dated back to hundreds of years including the advent of Islam in this region.
For the protection and maintained of these sites different meetings had been held with security institutions at the provincial and district level.
Tasal said: “The Information Department with the cooperation of archeologists discovered six historic sites, four monuments and 19 shrines; we had launched efforts for the maintenance and protection of these sites.”
Cultural Activists Niamatullah asked authorities to spread awareness among people regarding the protection of historic sites.
It is pertinent to mention that in Logar 12 historic sites, 16 monuments, 20 historic forts and 19 shrines are registered with the Information and cultural Affairs Ministry.
