KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Health Minister Dr. Qalandar Ebad has sought more cooperation to deal with the healthcare issues of returnees and said government was prepared to address issued related to the healthcare of returnees, a statement said on Monday.
During a meeting with UNHCR Commissioner Leonard Zulu and his accompanying delegation Dr. Ebad assured the government preparedness to deal with the situation and urged more cooperation from UNHCR, a statement from the Public Health Ministry said.
According to reports since October last year, more than 500,000 refugees had been expelled from Pakistan and this process was still underway.
The second phase of Afghan refugees’ expulsion started from April 15 and it is expected that around 800,000 refugees would be expelled in this phase.
