MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A freight of food and non-food items dispatched by Qatar to support flood-affected people has arrived in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, an official said on Monday.
The humanitarian aid landed on Monday afternoon at the Mawlana Jalaludin Mohammadi Balkhi Airport and handed over to the IEA officials.
Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Alam Jameel said the freight included food items, treatment items, appliances and tents which would be distributed to the flood affected people.
He hailed Qatar’s humanitarian assistance and asked other countries and organisations to provide support to the flood affected people.
Fahad Abdullah Aldosari, the representative of Qatar, said that four more freights of humanitarian assistance would arrive in Afghanistan in the coming days.
It is worth mentioning that a recent flash flood inflicted heavy human and financial losses in northern Baghlan province.
