MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): A 9-year old feud between two families in Alingar district of eastern Laghman province is turned into friendship, thanks to mediators.

Originated from verbal exchanges, six people had been killed and eight others wounded from both sides as a result of the enmity.

Noor-ul-Hadi, Alingar district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the nine-year old feud between Lal Khan and Khan Mohammad families in Kalman area stood resolved after mediation of tribal elders, religious scholars and local officials.

Meanwhile, members of the reconciling families were also happy over the mediation of tribal elders and urged them to resolve more such enmities.

Lal Khan said his feud with Khan Mohammad family started nine years ago after a verbal dispute.

He said three members of his family were killed and as many others injured in this period. He added he was happy that their enmity had now turned into friendship.

Khan Mohammad said that three members of his family, including a woman, were killed and five others injured in the enmity. He said their children were also deprived of education during this period.

About 100 family issues and enmities have been resolved in this district and turned into friendship since the Islamic Emirate’s takeover.
