PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The reconstruction of two school buildings in the Baraki Barak district of central Logar province has started, an official said on Sunday.
Education Department Spokesperson Shapur Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News the Momando and Shaikhano schools would be reconstructed at the cost of 10 million afs.
Funds for the reconstruction of these schools would be provided by UNICEF and its work would be completed in six months.
“In this project, the works of which started today (Sunday), in addition to the construction of exterior walls of the schools, the solar power system, the digging of clean water wells, hand washing facilities, concrete dense grains, toilets and the construction of absorption wells are included,” said Arab.
He added by the completion of this project around 2,000 students would get safe learning environment.
Abdul Qayyoum, a tribal elder of Baraki Barak district, said he was happy see the start of the reconstruction of two school buildings by the Education Department with the financial support of UNICEF
At present, in some other areas of Beraki Barak, students are busy studying in rented houses or in the open space, and the Ministry of Education is working to build new buildings for those schools where students are currently studying in the open space.
Sabawon, a student of Shaikhano School, said currently, the school did not have regular classrooms, surrounding walls, clean drinking water and toilets, and if this school is rebuilt, all the problems would be solved.
