KABUL (Pajhwok): A senior Malaysian official has said his country desires strengthened ties with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
The Deputy Director of Planning and Policy at the Malaysia Ministry of Defence made the remarks at a meeting with IEA Ambassador in Malaysia Naqibullah Ahmadi, the Afghan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur wrote on its X handle.
It said the two sides discussed the recent Malaysian delegation’s trip to Kabul and other various topics of mutual interest.
The Malaysian official said: “What we heard in the media and what we saw in Afghanistan is very different.”
He acknowledged significant progress made in Afghanistan over the last three years and assured that Malaysia would uphold its commitments with the Afghan caretaker government.
Earlier, Malaysian-high ranking delegation traveled to Afghanistan and met with several officials of IEA.
The delegation was comprised of representatives from the country’s ministries of foreign affairs, defense, interior and advisors to the prime minister.
