PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Peshawar High Court has summoned two senior officials over the disappearance of four Afghan brothers.

Justice Ijaz Anwar ordered the federal defence secretary and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa additional chief secretary (home) to appear in person on June 14.

The single bench issued the summons on a habeas corpus petition filed by Gulalai Alkozai, a member of the influential Alkozai family, with a strong business background.

The petitioner alleged the four brothers had been abducted from their residence in the Hayatabad neighbourhood of Peshawar by men in police uniforms on Feb 28.

On Ayesha’s behalf, Advocate Nadir Shah informed the court a police contingent had taken away the four brothers -- Mohammad Nasir Alkozai, Usman Alkozai, Abdul Waris Alkozai and Zahir Alkozai.

The brothers were moved to an undisclosed location and their whereabouts had since been unknown, the petitioner’s counsel added.

A few days ago the KP police chief had assured the court the detainees would be traced in two weeks’ time, but the promise is yet to be kept.
