HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Another shipment of  humanitarian aid from Turkey for flood-affected people has arrived in western Herat province through Torghundai port, an official said on Wednesday.

Maulvi Abdul Latif, an official of the Afghan Crescent Society (ARS), said the assistance included 620 tonnes food, non-food, flour, tents, blankets, wheelchairs, health kits and other essential materials.

He said it was the ninth shipment of Turkish aid for Afghanistan’s flood-hit people, which was handed over to ARC in presence of Turkish consular general Sinan Ali Khan.

He added the aid will solve some problems of the flood-hit people.

Recent flash floods killed 315 people and injured 1,630 others in Baghlan.
