BAMYAN/FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Around 120,000 tourists have visited historic and attractive sites in central Bamyan and northeastern Badakhshan provinces during Eid, officials said on Wednesday.

Safiullah Raed, head of the Bamyan Information and Cultural Affairs Department said that around 92,000 tourists, including foreigners, have visited attractive and historic sites during Eid-ul-Adha days.

He said Bamyan, with its ancient sites and attractive natural sites, hosted thousands of domestic and foreign tourists every year.

At the same time, tourists say that Bamyan is sightseeing and recreational place, if there is improvement in the tourist services increased, the number of tourists will multiply.

Najibullah, a resident of Herat province, said Bamyan was a tourist site due to its historic and attractive sites.

He, however, said: “The existing facilities do not meet the needs of all these tourists, and if the amount of facilities and tourism services in recreational places such as Amir Band increased, the number of tourists will also double.”

Mohammad Ali, another tourist from Kabul province, said: “In this season of the year, the temperature is increasing in most of the provinces, and Bamyan, having a very suitable climate, attract more tourists.”

He complained about the lack of facilities, including transportation services, accommodation, lack of toilets, and the lack of garbage cans in recreational places, and asked the relevant departments to pay more attention in this regard.م

Bamyan Information and Cultural Affairs Department Director, said efforts were underway to provide more facilities and currently, the restoration of Band Amir Road, the completion of a standard hotel in Band Amir National Park, the security of tourists and the restoration of some historical areas are underway so that tourists can benefit from better services.

Eng. Zabihullah Ameeri, head of the Badakhshan Information and Cultural Affairs Department, said in the past one week 30,000 local and some foreign tourists have visited Badakhshan province.

He called the increase of tourists during the days of Eid unprecedented and added that the main reason for the increase in tourists is the provision of security throughout the country, the sense of mutual acceptance of the residents of this province and the creation of parks and recreational places that have drawn tourists from 34 provinces of Afghanistan to the tourist attractions of Badakhshan.

He said Pul-i-Kheshti in Faizabad, the provincial capital, the Yakhshera waterfall in Warduj and the second Wakhan National Park in Wah Khan District were the most famous attractive points.

Haji Mohammad Hakim, one of the tourists, asked other people to travel to the other provinces during summer season and get accustomed to the cultural and natural beauties of other places.
