KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) on Tuesday predicted heavy rains, windstorms and flash floods in 12 provinces of the country.
MoTCA wrote on its X handle there was a possibility of torrential rains with windstorms today (Tuesday) and tomorrow in Badakhshan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Panjsher, Kapisa, Parwan, Nangarhar, Kabul, Logar, Paktia and Khost.
It said 15 to 35 millimetres of rain was expected in different areas. “There is a possibility of relatively strong winds with dust in northern, western, southern and central provinces, including Salang.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) also forecast heavy rains and rising water levers in some rivers of the country over the next two days.
In a statement, the ministry said the rains and surging water levers in rivers of Badakhshan, Takhar, Panjsher, Ghorband, Logar, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Kunar, Laghman, Paktia, Khost provinces.
The MoEW asked residents of the areas to stay away from rivers and warned inhabitants of riverine areas of possible flooding.
