KABUL (Pajhwok): The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its intention to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the statement following a meeting with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, as reported by Anadolu News Agency.

Fidan revealed Turkey planned to submit its application to join the case on Wednesday. He slammed the unconditional support Israel received, claiming it undermined the international order.

The top Turkish diplomat noted supporters of Israel often ignored its ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories while condemning Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

Branding Israel's "unconditional" supporters as the main culprits in undermining the foundations of the international order, Fidan said those who condemned Russia for its war on Ukraine turned a blind eye to Tel Aviv's continued occupation of Palestinian lands.

He said Palestinians had exhibited a constructive attitude during the negotiation process, while Israel had been the "spoiler".

Last week, he recalled, Israel committed the "treacherous assassination" of the chief negotiator in talks for a cease-fire in Gaza, referring to Hamas' political chief Ismail Haniyeh.

"This assassination clearly shows that Netanyahu does not want peace. Netanyahu wants to set the entire region on fire. Israel is pursuing violence and expansionism," Fidan concluded.
