KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has slapped sanctions on Russian and Iranian individuals, shipping companies and their vessels.
The Treasury Department announced on Tuesday blacklisting Russia’s Sea River Service Limited Liability Company from the city of Azov and VAFA Wholesale LTD from Astrakhan.
Three dry cargo ships of Sea River Service, two dry cargo ships of VAFA and four dry cargo ships of MG-Flot were also sanctioned, according to TASS news agency.
Russian national Dzhamaldin Pashaev, the owner of several shipping firms, and Iranian citizen Ruhollah Katebi, who resides in Russia and allegedly represents the Iranian Defense Ministry in the Russian Federation, were also subjected to the restrictions.
The sanctions, the US says, stem from supplies of Iran's components and weapons systems to Russia, including unmanned aerial vehicles and ballistic missiles.
However, Moscow and Tehran vehemently reject claims about Iranian weapons supplies to Russia for use in Ukraine.
The Treasury Department also designated IRAN AIR for materially contributing to the supply, sale, or transfer, directly or indirectly, to or from Iran.
