US cautions Iran against new attack on Israel

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has warned Iran against a new attack on Israel, a major American ally, says a media report.

In case of another Iranian assault, the Biden administration says it will be unable to restrain Israel, according to Axios.

The news website quoted a US official as saying: "We won't be able to hold Israel back, and we won't be able to make sure that the next attack will be calibrated and targeted as the previous one."

Meanwhile, an Israeli official said the US conveyed its message to Iran through the Swiss. Tel Aviv could retaliate even if Iran launched a fresh attack from Iraq.

He added: "It will depend on how massive the attack is and what are its results."

The White House declined to comment. The Iranian mission to the UN did not immediately provide a comment.

Israeli intelligence has reportedly warned Iran is planning a major drone and missile strike against the Jewish state from Iraqi territory.
