KABUL (Pajhwok): One individual has been killed and 16 others have been injured in a shooting at the Tuskegee University in Alabama, the United States.
According to the Associated Press, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported that Jaquez Myrick, 25, of Montgomery, was arrested while leaving the scene of the campus shooting.
Authorities discovered he was carrying a handgun with a machine gun conversion device.
Myrick now faces a federal charge of possession of a machine gun. However, the agency did not accuse him of directly using the weapon in the shooting.
It remains unclear whether Myrick was a student at the historically Black university, which was wrapping up its 100th Homecoming Week celebrations.
Officials said the 18-year-old, who died, was not a university student, but some of the wounded were. Of the 16 injured, 12 were struck by gunfire, while four sustained non-gunshot-related injuries.
