TCEC green-lights autarky plan for poultry sector

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Technical Committee of the Economic Commission (TCEC) has approved the national policy for self-sufficiency in the poultry sector.

At a regular meeting, the committee discussed several key issues, including policy for self-sufficiency in the poultry sector.

The construction of cold storage facilities in different provinces also came up for discussion, said a statement from the office of the deputy prime minister for economic affairs office.

The body approved amendments to the policy for self-sufficiency in the poultry sector after comprehensive discussions, the statement added.

As many as 700,000 people would be provided with jobs directly and indirectly with the implementation of the policy, said the statement, which did not provide further details.

A report was also presented at the meeting on cold storage facilities, already set up or still under reconstruction by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.

The report will be sent to the Economic Commission for formal endorsement.
