KABUL (Pajhwok): Based on instructions of the IEA supreme leader, a committee has approved a policy to prevent negative and extravagant customs across the country.
Members of the committee hope the draft policy will yield favourable results, according to a statement from the Office of Administrative Affairs (OAA).
Under the chairmanship of OAA chief Mualvi Noorul Haq Anwar, representatives from ministries of Vice and Virtue, Hajj Affairs, Education, Higher Educations, Information and Culture and the Supreme Court, as well as Fatwa Directorate, scholars and ulema council members met to discuss ways of preventing unwholesome and extravagant customs.
Members of the committee conferred on measures to check bad customs, including wasteful spending practices, which are in conflict with the Shariah and have adverse economic, moral and social consequences for the people.
Such practices had been rampant for years and people could not easily get rid of them without joint action by relevant state institutions, scholars and influential figures, the statement added.
Without providing further details, the OAA said the committee approved a policy curbing unpleasant and extravagant customs among the people and bring bringing reforms. It hoped the draft would yield commendable results for the people.
