KABUL (Pajhwok): The 16th edition of the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade-II Cricket Tournament, featuring 40 teams, commenced today (Saturday), the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced.
The tournament will follow a one-day format, with a total of 80 matches scheduled to take place over 21 days, from January 11 to January 31.
According to a statement from the ACB, the participating teams have been divided into eight groups, with each group playing four matches. The matches will be held at four venues in Khost, Nangarhar, Kunar, and Kandahar provinces.
In today's matches, Faryab is playing against Nangarhar, Kandahar is facing Maiwand Arghandab, Mis Ainak is competing against Amu Zone, and Kunar will face Logar.
Each team will compete once against every other team in its respective group. The teams with the most points in each group will advance to the Provincial Grade-I tournament, which will take place immediately after the conclusion of the Grade-II tournament.
