PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Chamber of Commerce and Investment of central Logar province says the province exported over 1.1 million tonnes of agriculture products this year.
Maulvi Mohammad Yaqoob Momand, head of the chamber, told Pajhwok Afghan News the exported goods included apples, grapes, apricots, almonds, watermelons, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables.
He said these agricultural products were exported not only to Kabul and other provinces but also to neighboring countries.
He stated: "This year, we exported 1.1 million tonnes of agricultural products, with a total market value of 7.8 billion afghanis."
Momand added that the agriculture sector has seen unprecedented growth in the province in recent years.
He urged investors to invest in the agriculture and livestock sectors of the province.
Meanwhile, Samar Gul, a farmer in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, also acknowledged that the volume of agriculture exports from the province significantly increased this year compared to the last year.
However, he expressed concerns about the lack of a proper market for their products, stating: "We still do not have a stable market for our agricultural products, and we need support in this regard."
Due to the absence of a well-established market, many farmers are forced to sell their products at half price.
