FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Construction work has been started on three water supply networks that will cost over 18 million afghanis and provide safe drinking water to more than 700 families upon completion in western Ghor province.
Zabihullah Ghawsi-zada, spokesperson for the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects are being implemented in Shweij-Olya area of Al-Farouq district and Qaisarak area of Dolina district.
He said the projects included the construction of three water reservoirs with a total capacity of 210 cubic meters, installation of 46 solar panels, and construction of 448 water taps, costing 18,423,879 afghanis in total.
According to him, the projects are funded by the World Bank and being implemented by the DACAAR organization in technical coordination with the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department.
Ghawsi-zada explained that once completed, 728 families will gain access to clean and safe drinking water.
Residents welcomed the launch of the projects, saying the new networks will help somewhat alleviate their long-running water shortage problem.
