Herat exports $350,000 industrial machinery to Tajikistan

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The first shipment of industrial machinery and equipment worth $350,000 has been exported from western Herat province to Tajikistan under a broader contract valued at $1.2 million.

Maroof Mohammadi, head of Dezh Steel Company and the exporter, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the shipment includes machinery used in lime, gypsum and cement factories.

The consignment comprises a complete smoke purification system, a pre-heater kiln, a lifting system, belt conveyors, crushers, a full cooling package and material storage silos, all transported in dismantled form.

He said the $350,000 shipment represents the first phase of the contract, with the remaining machinery to be exported in subsequent consignments.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid welcomed the export to Tajikistan, saying the Islamic Emirate had provided the necessary investment facilities for industrialists.

He added that the value of domestic exports had reached nearly $2 billion.

Zahid stressed the need to maintain a balance between imports and exports and said major projects were under way to ensure a stable electricity supply. He noted that efforts were being made to resolve the electricity shortage within the next two years.

Separately, on Tuesday, ten containers of bottles produced at the Herat Industrial Park, valued at approximately $40,000, were exported to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
