25 tonnes of substandard steel returned to exporting country

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says it has rejected a 25-tonne shipment of “Gader Nodani” to ensure the safety of domestic markets and protect consumer rights.

In a statement, the authority said the consignment did not meet national standards and was identified at the Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing.

Following comprehensive inspection and strict quality control checks, the shipment was returned to the country of origin.

The authority stressed that quality assessment and control procedures are being implemented regularly, transparently and strictly at all border points, adding that no leniency will be shown toward goods that may harm public welfare.

It also urged all traders to strictly comply with national standards and fulfill their religious and national responsibilities in maintaining a safe and high-quality market.
