Logar families end year-long feud through reconciliation

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A year-long feud between two families in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of Logar province, has been resolved through the efforts of local officials, tribal elders and religious scholars.

Logar Director of Tribal and Border Affairs Qari Mohammad Ashraf Nishtar said during a gathering held on the occasion that the dispute had erupted between residents of the Babus area in Logar and the Tangi Dara area of Sayedabad district in Maidan Wardak province.

He said the conflict was peacefully resolved through mediation by officials of the Islamic Emirate, religious scholars and tribal elders.

Nishtar praised the efforts of community elders and clerics in achieving the reconciliation and stressed the need for greater efforts to resolve similar disputes in order to prevent violence in society.

Meanwhile, Sayedabad district governor Mawlavi Sardar Ahmad Sabit also welcomed the reconciliation, saying forgiveness, tolerance and peace among people reflected Islamic and human values.

Representatives of both families pledged to live in peace, mutual understanding and brotherhood in the future and to work together to prevent further problems.

The feud reportedly began a year ago following the killing of a man named Sifatullah near the Mamoorino Township area of Pul-i-Alam city.
