Trump says China agrees to purchase 200 Boeing jets

KABUL (Pajhwok): US President Donald Trump says China has agreed to purchase 200 Boeing aircraft, with the number potentially rising to 750 in the future.

The deal “includes approximately 200 planes and a promise of up to 750 if they do a good job,” Trump told reporters on Friday, according to Al Jazeera.

He said the number of aircraft could increase further if both sides were satisfied with the agreement.

However, additional details, including the types of jets involved and the delivery schedule, were not immediately disclosed.

Aviation intelligence and advisory firm IBA estimated the value of the 200-aircraft order at around $17 billion to $19 billion, assuming that 80 percent of the order consists of Boeing MAX jets.

The report added that the agreement could help Boeing reduce the gap with its European rival Airbus in the Chinese market, where Airbus has gained a larger share in recent years.
