8 killed after passenger bus overturns, catches fire in Turkey

KABUL (Pajhwok): Eight people were killed and 33 others injured after a passenger bus overturned and caught fire in western Turkey on Sunday, according to reports.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning in Denizli province, the Associated Press reported.
It said the bus, operated by Pamukkale Tourism, was travelling from Izmir to the coastal city of Antalya with 38 passengers and three staff members on board when it struck roadside barriers at around 1:40 a.m. local time, overturned and subsequently caught fire.
It added eight people lost their lives and 33 others sustained injuries in the accident.
It noted that road travel in Turkey typically increases during this period, leading to a rise in traffic accidents as many people travel to visit relatives or spend their holidays away from home.
Turkish authorities said an investigation had been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
