KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Water and Energy has warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash floods in several provinces over the next two days.
In a statement posted on its X account on Monday, the ministry said relatively heavy rainfall, accompanied by flash floods, is forecast from June 2 to June 3 in parts of the Amu Darya and Kabul river basins, as well as some associated watersheds.
According to the ministry, flooding and rising water levels are expected along rivers in Bamyan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Takhar, Badakhshan, Panjshir, Parwan, Kapisa, Khost, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces, along with nearby watersheds.
The ministry urged residents in the affected areas to avoid approaching riverbanks during periods of flooding or high water levels.
It also called on local communities to promptly inform residents in downstream areas of any flooding or rising river levels to help prevent loss of life.
