6 Afghan nationals killed in traffic accident in Iran

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least six Afghan nationals have been killed in a traffic accident in Semnan province of Iran, officials and media reports said.

The state-run Iranian news agency IRNA reported that the accident occurred on Thursday night on the Eyvanki–Tehran road, in front of the Jannatabad industrial town.

Karan Yahyayi, head of public relations at Semnan University of Medical Sciences, said a Peugeot 405 carrying foreign nationals collided with a truck.

He added that out of nine people injured in the accident, six died at the scene, while three others were taken to medical facilities by emergency services.

Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB also reported that the victims were Afghan nationals.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
