KABUL (Pajhwok): The Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Problems says 592 returnee families entered Afghanistan through four border crossings.
Deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, shared the commission’s daily report on his X account.
According to the report, 491 families comprising 2,513 individuals returned and were registered through the Torkham border crossing.
The commission said 544 families, totalling 3,084 individuals, were transported to the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul. More than 2.43 million afghanis were also provided to cover transportation costs.
It added that 5.12 million afghanis in cash assistance was distributed among 611 families at Torkham. Health and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari Camp.
Meanwhile, 67 families comprising 356 individuals returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province. Of these, 38 families were transported to Kabul, with over 1.26 million afghanis paid for transportation expenses.
At Spin Boldak, 794,000 afghanis in assistance was distributed to 95 families, while food, health, and telecommunications services were also provided.
In addition, 31 families comprising 128 individuals returned through the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz province, along with 723 other travellers. Each family received 10,000 afghanis in cash assistance, and 432 individuals were provided healthcare services.
At the Islam Qala crossing in Herat province, three families comprising 12 individuals returned, receiving a total of 24,000 afghanis in assistance.
The report further stated that the Transfer and Transportation Committee moved 120 families comprising 629 individuals from Kabul to various provinces, providing more than 439,000 afghanis in transportation costs.
Overall, 592 families comprising 3,009 individuals returned to Afghanistan, 702 families totalling 4,226 individuals were transported to different provinces, and assistance was provided to 710 families.
