KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 485 Afghan refugees were released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan during the current week, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry said 457 individuals returned through the Torkham crossing, while 28 others entered the country via Spin Boldak.

It said the returnees included families and individuals who had been detained for lacking legal documents and had spent varying periods in custody.

The statement added that the returnees were provided with necessary assistance before being transferred to their respective areas.

The ministry also urged international organizations to continue supporting migrants, facilitate their return process, and help ensure a safe and humane environment for returnees.
