KABUL (Pajhwok): Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor is set to return to the Octagon after a five-year absence when he faces Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 in Las Vegas.
According to Al Jazeera, McGregor weighed 170.5 pounds (77.3kg) on Friday, while Holloway weighed 170 pounds (77.1kg) ahead of the welterweight bout.
The Irish fighter has not competed since suffering a broken tibia in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. His planned comeback against Michael Chandler in 2024 was cancelled after he sustained a toe injury.
The 37-year-old McGregor, who holds a 22-6 mixed martial arts record, is aiming to revive his career and move back into title contention.
Holloway, 34, will look to level the series after losing to McGregor by unanimous decision in their first meeting 13 years ago.
The Hawaii-born fighter, who has a 27-9 record, is making his official welterweight debut after a successful career in the featherweight and lightweight divisions.
The fighters also drew attention during Thursday’s pre-fight press conference when McGregor grabbed Holloway’s sunglasses and threw them to the ground.
