FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says two trauma centres have been inaugurated at health facilities in Lal wa Sarjangal district of western Ghor province.

In a statement, the ministry said the centres were officially opened in the presence of Sheikh Mawlavi Abdul Wahid Hamas, Ghor’s public health director, with financial support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

According to the statement, each centre has been equipped with medical equipment and supplies worth $70,000.

The ministry said the trauma centres were established to provide timely, standard emergency medical care, ensure rapid treatment for trauma patients and reduce the need to transfer patients to distant health facilities.

The statement added that the provincial public health director thanked UNICEF for its support and stressed the importance of making effective use of the equipment to deliver quality healthcare services and ensure timely treatment for patients.

He described the inauguration of the centres as an important step toward strengthening emergency healthcare services and improving access to medical care for residents of Lal wa Sarjangal district.
