KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A one-kilometre road has been constructed and put into service at a cost of 30 million afghanis in the capital of southeastern Khost province, an official said on Sunday.
Eng. Rahmatullah, an official at Khost Municipality, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the project was completed over nine months.
He said the project, implemented in the 2nd and 3rd municipal districts of Khost city, included the construction of around 1,300 metres of road and more than 2,500 metres of drainage channels, at a total cost of 30 million afghanis.
He added that the municipality had planned to implement 30 development projects in the 1405 solar year, with a budget of 292 million afghanis allocated for these projects.
Meanwhile, residents and shopkeepers in the areas expressed happiness over the completion of the project.
Sayed Nawaz Faqirzai, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok that roads in the area had previously been unpaved and became muddy and waterlogged during rainfall, making movement difficult for residents.
Meanwhile, shopkeeper Jihad Gul said the proper construction of roads and drainage channels had largely resolved transportation problems and would also have a positive impact on their businesses.
