KABUL (Pajhwok): Russian investors have expressed keen interest in investing in the rehabilitation, modernization and capacity expansion of power generation plants in Afghanistan.
In a statement, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) said its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, met Denis Rudakov, a commercial official of Russian company Power Machines, in Kabul.
The two sides discussed investment opportunities and potential cooperation in the major rehabilitation and modernization of equipment at Afghanistan’s power generation plants, as well as measures to increase their generation capacity.
Hamkar assured the Russian company that DABS would provide all necessary cooperation and support to facilitate initial technical assessments of the existing power generation facilities.
Rudakov, for his part, said Power Machines planned to conduct preliminary technical assessments of Afghanistan’s existing power generation plants.
Based on the findings, the company would develop plans for their major rehabilitation, equipment modernization, and capacity expansion.
The statement noted that Afghanistan currently has several operational power generation plants, with ongoing efforts to increase their generation capacity and modernize their equipment.
