KABUL (Pajhwok): Around 89 traders and industrialists have returned to Afghanistan over the past more than two years and invested $68 million in various sectors, an official said.

Islamic Emirate deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fetrat said in an audio message that 89 traders and industrialists had returned to the country since the start of the forced deportation of migrants more than two years ago.

Of the returnees, one was a high-level trader or industrialist, 74 were classified as medium-level and 14 as low-level, he said.

Fetrat said various services and facilities had also been provided to the returnees.

He added that 144 acres of land had been allocated to the traders and industrialists in industrial parks in Kabul and the provinces.

According to Fetrat, the returnees have invested a total of $68 million and created 4,661 direct jobs.

He said the documents of 15 other traders and industrialists had been reviewed and were being finalised. They would also benefit from incentives and facilities in accordance with applicable regulations, he added.
